June 7 Sermon

Prayer for the Week (June 7-June 13)

Let us pray to God our Father who sent his Word, Jesus Christ, to bring us truth and the Holy Spirit to make us holy. Through your Word and Spirit, may we come to know the mystery of your life. Draw us to you so we share in your life and your love. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who eternally dwells with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, now and forever more. Amen.

(Sunday Missal, alt.)

Sunday Reflection (June 7, 2020)

In the bond of peace and love, the Holy Spirit unites us to God the Father and the Son.  The Holy Spirit also unites us to one another (2 Corinthians 11:11-13).  We are caught up in the move of God’s desire to have fellowship with us through Christ and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

God is open to friendship with us, invites us to participate in the move of God’s love in the world by sharing God’s love with the world.  May we invite others to commune with God and others through Christ and the Holy Spirit.  May we keep fulfilling the great commission to go into all the world to make disciples and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

May 31 Sermon

Prayer for the Week (May 31-June 6)

Let us pray that the Holy Spirit bring peace and unity to all humankind: Almighty and ever-living God, you fulfilled the Easter promise by sending us your Holy Spirit. May that Spirit unite the races and nations on earth to proclaim your glory. May the Holy Spirit lead us to listen to one another. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son who eternally dwells with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, now and forevermore. Amen.

Sunday Reflection (May 31, 2020)

The Holy Spirit has joined us together to bear witness to God’s love in the world as it was revealed in Jesus Christ. We cannot do this alone: We need each other in the body of Christ, and each one of you has a place in this mission of Christ’s Church (1 Corinthians 12:4-7, 12-14). I challenge you not to leave the work of Christ’s Church to its ministers or other Church members. I challenge you to explore and activate the talents God has given you to share in Christ’s Church.

If you are not attending or have a connection with a local congregation of Christ’s Church, I encourage you to do so. Each congregation has a place in the one, universal Church, and each of you has a place in a local congregation of Christ’s Church. Each congregation is equally important and equally needed in Christ’s Church. Each individual is equally important and equally needed in Christ’s Church.
