Sunday Reflection (December 1, 2024)

Sunday Reflection upon 1 Thessalonians 3:9-13

Paul’s instructions about preparing for the Second Coming of Christ are not about writing and selling end-time books or making end-time prophecy movies. Instead, they are about something more down-to-earth and less spectacular than that. It’s something within the reach of our daily lives: “To increase and abound in love for one another and all.”

In our spiritual journeys, our goal is to deepen our understanding of God’s love, to be more forgiving, or to be more patient in our daily lives. These are not lofty, unattainable goals but practical steps we can take daily. In responding to God’s forgiveness and reconciling us to God, may we abound with love and concern for one another and all. Our growing love, fueled by forgiveness and reconciliation, marks our journey towards holiness. It is through our obedience to Christ, a guiding and reassuring force, that we become more Christ-like.
