Psalm 65:11 in Today’s English Version of the Bible read:
What a rich harvest your goodness provides! Wherever you go, there is plenty.
I must confess that I am not fond of autumn. Spring is my favorite time of year. However, autumn should remind us of God’s blessings. When the harvest is gathered in is a wonderful time to pause and give God glory and praise. Israel was an agricultural society. They know that a good harvest meant their survival. They also knew that a good harvest depended upon God. This way of thinking was held to be true for the early settlers in our country as well. A good harvest meant they would make it through another long, hard, cold winter. They also knew how much they depended upon, and needed to work with, God for a good harvest to be realized.
