Sunday Reflection (August 27, 2023)

I hope God’s grace and kindness motivate you to share grace and kindness with others, and not just occasionally, and not just with the people you happen to like. May God’s mercy mold and shape our attitudes and lives because when we share grace and kindness, we do what is good, acceptable, and complete (Romans 12:1-2). I hope we love God and others to the degree that we want others to participate in the grace and kindness that we have experienced from God and others. This is far different from “God’s grace for me and God’s wrath for you.”
 
Yes, we are far from perfect but do not overlook what God can do through you when you offer yourselves to God as a living sacrifice. In this process we discern God’s will, what is good and perfect in love. May we give the world a glimpse of the character of the One, true, merciful God. May we surrender our lives to God and be transformed by the Holy Spirit so that Christ is formed within us and among us.

Prayer for the Week (August 27-September 2, 2023)

Let us thank God our Father for his closeness to us: God, we tremble at the thought of the distance between you and us. Yet, you create us in your own image, so that we cannot fulfill our purpose in life until we first discover your purpose for all of humankind. Through the Holy Spirit, make us aware of your design for human life.  We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us pray to the Father of all that our heart be open to all people: Father of all, long ago you chose the people of Israel to make your name known to all the nations.  Your Son Jesus Christ made it clear that forgiveness and fullness of life are the share of all who believe in him. Make your Church a place of encounter for all those who search for you.  We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sunday Reflection (August 20, 2023)

God’s purpose in choosing Israel and the Christ’s Church is to show mercy! First to Israel then to the rest of the world through Jesus Christ (Romans 11:1-2, 25-32). May we respond in obedience by sharing what we have learned about God in Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit: Compassion and mercy. God chose Israel and Christ’s Church for such a purpose.
